SIME-STROMAG Emergency Brakes

Renold Australasia offers two complete ranges of SIME-STROMAG INDUSTRIE designed electromagnetic and hydraulic emergency brake calipers, with retaining forces up to 250,000N. These brakes typically act directly on the hoist drums of hot metal ladle cranes, port cranes and other safety critical applications such as wind turbines.

Emergency brakes are called in the event of:

  • Mechanical failure in the drive-line
  • Overspeed detection
  • Emergency operation initiated by the operator


Electromagnetic Type

SA range are spring-applied electromagnetic release, the most powerful electromagnetic emergency brake calipers on the market.  Applications - hot metal cranes, port cranes.  These brakes operate directly on the hoist drum.

 

Hydraulic Type

SH, TH & SHC range of disc brake calipers are spring-applied hydraulically released emergency brakes. They are used extensively in port cranes, conveyors, wind turbines, the steel industry and in mine winder applications. An integrated power supply can be a feature of this range providing a compact design.
